Dublin, 27 June 2012 – ISO Accredited Certification Body Certification Europe, hosted a seminar entitled ‘Achieving Energy Savings and Carbon Reductions’ at IT Decisions 2012, which takes place on 26 and 27 June at The Barbican, London.
The IT Decisions 2012 event offers organisations the opportunity to become up to date on the evolving IT structure globally. It offers an integrated view of emerging IT trends and new technology within the sector, while aiding senior IT executives in understanding which processes and strategies will be most advantageous to their organisations.
Dr. John Ryan, Commercial Director for Certification Europe lead the seminar and discussed the role which organisations IT departments are playing in achieving energy savings and carbon reductions within their companies.
Dr. Ryan, commented that unless the IT functionality and energy efficiency demands are aligned, organisations will be unable to achieve their ambitions to reduce energy use and cost; using the structure of ISO 50001 allows this alignment (of functionality demands and energy reductions) to be achieved in a planned, measured and sustainable manner.
Today providing a sustainable energy efficient and secure IT structure is of imminent importance to organisations. Outside technological, logistical and best practice factors are all influencing how current IT departments are presently being ran. ISO 50001 offers a guidance structure to company’s which allows them to assess their overall energy usage and instigate changes which are environmentally friendly, cost saving, and most importantly energy efficient.
“I have seen a dramatic increase in the uptake of Energy (ISO 50001), IT Security (ISO 20000) ad Information Security (ISO 27001) over the past year. Organisations want to be assured that they are adopting best practice within their sectors and protecting both their clients and staff data. ISO certification provides this assurance and allows companies to operate in a safe and compliant environment,” commented John Ryan, Commercial Director of Certification Europe.
Several of the exhibitors and presenters here today are clients of Certification Europe and have embarked on the ISO pathway to success; our aim is to encourage the rest of the organisations at IT Decisions to begin the ISO certification journey with us.
