Interxion scoops European Award for Energy Efficiency in Data Centres at BroadGroup’s Data Centre Awards 2012

Success highlights Interxion’s commitment to excellence in delivery of highly energy-efficient and reliable colocation services

LONDON 14 June 2012 – INTERXION HOLDING NV (NYSE: INXN), a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, today announces that it has won the European Award for Energy Efficiency in Data Centres at the Data Centre Awards 2012.

Organised by BroadGroup – a leading international consulting firm – the European awards ceremony, held in London on 13 June, celebrates the technical and commercial success of the data centre industry in Europe. The judging panel includes high-profile representatives from the consulting, end-user and vendor communities.

The European Award for Energy Efficiency in Data Centres recognises Interxion’s belief that energy efficient data centres are at the heart of the whole movement towards green IT and sustainable computing. Interxion’s 29 data centres in 11 European countries are at the cutting-edge of energy efficiency, delivering a track record of continued improvements in Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE). The company is also committed to the use of renewable energy; as of January 2012, over half of the power Interxion uses in its data centres is from solar, wind, geothermic, tidal or hydro energy sources, and Interxion’s operations in London, Zurich, Copenhagen, Sweden, Amsterdam, Hilversum, Madrid, Frankfurt and Brussels are 100% powered by renewable energy sources.

Commenting on the win, Kevin Dean, Chief Marketing Officer, Interxion, commented, “We are pleased to have been recognised by BroadGroup, and the distinguished members of the judging panel, as a leader in the European data centre industry. Our commitment to increasing energy efficiency and reducing our carbon footprint is more important than ever and something a growing number of our customers are placing an increased emphasis upon. We are proud of our leadership in this area, and our efforts to put energy efficiency and the green agenda at the heart of the conversation amongst the European data centre community.”
